Sorry about the delay – we’ve had some fairly serious technical issues here (a lazy computer that likes to turn itself off without being asked to and related troubleshooting)… anyway, on with the show!
Last post I shared some ‘before’ shots of our bedroom… today is about the hands-dirty makeover process
Step 1 was a shopping trip to pick up new furniture, paint, curtains and various paraphernalia we needed. I did this on my own which turned out to be for the best – there was barely room left in the drivers seat, let alone anywhere else in the car!
Then we did all the boring prep stuff – remove doors, rails, blinds and other hardware, wash the walls with sugar soap, sand the enamel edges back and tape up the room – this part took ages and was really time consuming and not fun at all. Well, except the taping – I kind of got into that a bit.
Then, the fun part – painting! Getting our colour all the walls was really quick, not too messy and a great deal of fun.
The colour we chose for the walls is called ‘Sing Sing’ and I love it. It’s turned out a little blue-er than I’d expected – I was after a blue-grey colour – but I’m still thrilled with the result!
Getting the trims done was more time consuming than the walls – especially the two doors in the room – 4 coats each!
So, that’s the prep journey – next up will be the finished room!

After over 2 weeks of pretty solid work (on top of our day jobs)… we’ve completed our bedroom makeover! Here are some before shots to get you warmed up:
So, that’s our canvas. Tomorrow I’ll tell you about how we went about the change, then we’ll have the big reveal!

here’s something that makes me smile – our stubby cooler collection:
We have coolers from gigs, sporting events, places we’ve been and even a couple from weddings
Plus I can always find one to co-ordinate with my outfit and I’m able to keep track of my drink. Then there’s that whole ‘keeping your drink cool thing they were designed for…
I definitely get some smiles out of this!

These were the award-winning Christmas lights in my part of the world. I figure it’s a nice festive image on which to start the new year. I’ve had a wonderful Christmas and New Years filled with friends, family and frivolity.
Right now though, my time is being taken up with a project – we’re re-doing our bedroom so today was all about painting. Very exciting and I love how it’s looking so far!
Best wishes to you all and I hope 2012 is good to you!
